When we found out we needed to replace our rather aged Coleman furnace, we talked to a friend who recommended the Heil DLX90 furnace. The Heil brand was new to us and we had never heard of them before. Our friend mentioned that they are actually owned by carrier and the price was right!
This gas furnaces prices story was sent to us from a reader in Memphis, who had a gas furnace board and system failure over the hot summer.
Like many of you who are also replacing your furnace in the middle of the summer, when we called due to an air conditioning problem and the tech told us our furnace was bad, we thought he was crazy! Go figure, right?
Our old system was a coleman furnace that was already installed when we bought the house several years ago. We had to replace the cooling system in 2005 and we truly just assumed it was time for another one. While we were happy to hear the AC was ok, knowing that the gas furnace was bad, was another thing.
My husband Jon works with a guy who has a brother that installs HVAC, so we had him come by and give us a second opinion as well. Sure enough, he said the board was the first dead thing, but there was no telling what else might be bad. The board for the system was about $200, and he told us the furnace was already 16 years old and would need to be replaced. He recommended we go with a Heil DLX90 furnace as a replacement, since it would bring the furnace up to today’s standards.
