As part of our effort to build the HVAC Prices database, we are encouraging all readers to visit the Share a Price page, and tell us about your own home hvac system price! Today’s entry comes from a reader on the outskirts of Atlanta Ga.
Unless you don’t go outside, it’s been stupid hot down here in Georgia for the past week! Our old gas pack still worked up until last week, but couldn’t keep up with the heat too well. We figure we got 12 years out of the old comfort maker system, so when it did quit last week, we called and got price quotes.
After waiting 3 days in the sweltering heat of Georgia, we were finally able to get a replacement gas pack installed!
Price: $3800 Cash, Installed!
We have a friend who is in the HVAC business and he advised buying a Goodman system. I don’t know if that’s because his company sells Trane or not, but he said they are cheap systems and break quickly.
We asked the company who installed it about it and they said the gas pack has the same warranty as the Trane (which was almost $2,000 more) so what real difference did it make? He said the installation and maintenance make all the difference, not the brand.

How much higher can gas prices go. Between my partner and I it is costing over $100 on gas per week. The President needs to do something about this. Its out of controll. With the summer right around the corner you know prices are only going to skyrocket. Maybe I can telecommute.
