The Dave Lennox Signature is the top of the line from this highly respected manufacturer. It comes in a 98.2% A.F.U.E. model as well as the Dave Lennox Signature Collection SL280V Variable Speed gas furnace, an 80% efficient model. Joe from Tulsa, Oklahoma writes about the price he paid for this model. We’ll add it to our growing database that helps our readers know what to expect in HVAC Prices from the major manufactures.
“I found your site last week and love it! Our furnace is on its last legs and we’re looking at replacing it immediately. I’ve learned a ton here and it helped me in my discussions with two heating and cooling companies about the right furnace for our needs. We chose the Dave Lennox Signature Collection SL280V Variable Speed gas furnace. I was sold on a 95% efficient model but have learned here that in milder climates choosing a less expensive 80% efficient model is often a good choice. Since I factored the payback period for the higher efficiency model to be 5-6 years, we chose the 80% model because we plan to retire and move in less than 3 years.
The brochure for the furnace lists these features:
The lowest bid I received for a SL280V 70,000 Btu furnace installed was $3,375. That broke down to be $1,275 for the furnace and $2,100 to install it as well as remove the old furnace and dispose of it.
I called my brother in law who used to be an installer and asked him about installing it myself. He highly recommended I leave it to a qualified contractor since the set up of the furnace is pretty complex. Plus he saw too many times when a vent wasn’t installed right and led to inefficient operation or even exhaust leaks. So I guess I’ll go with the plan and let the pro do it next week.
